After almost 25 years working in international business development across the globe, I took the leap of faith in 2016 to set up my own export and language consultancy business; HW Language Services. The logo strapline for which is “Expert at Export” – a very unbritish, immodest claim you might think, but one nevertheless based on considerable export sales success, a passion for languages and diverse cultures alongside a proficiency in strategic, international marketing planning and implementation.
I identified an export knowledge and foreign language skills gap that seems to be widening in the UK market which I strongly believe my consultancy is well placed to begin to resolve. The objective is to help businesses and organisations secure a sustainable and profitable overseas market position.
Over the coming months, HW Language Services will be working with a number of SMEs, trade bodies and business support service providers to identify ways to improve regional and national productivity as well as increasing the proportion of export business undertaken by UK companies in the long term.
The topic of Brexit will clearly be on the minds of most if not all business and thought leaders so I hope that you will find this blog and website a good platform to engage in discussions on topics such as this.
On a monthly basis, we will be sharing a series of interviews on this website entitled “Home thoughts about abroad”. Interviewees will include Managing and Sales Directors of SMEs who currently export, CEOs and directors of leading trade bodies including The Institute of Export, Chambers of Commerce and other business support groups. You are most welcome to get involved if you have a story to share about export – the challenges and secrets of success.
So for now, I want to welcome you to the HW Language Services website and business. Our aim is to offer high quality and relevant strategic international growth support as well as French, German and Russian language support and training alongside sector-specific workshops and stakeholder engagement. Please do get in touch if you have a view or need assistance regarding an export prospect or maybe just want to brush up on your French, German or even beginners’ Russian. We would love to hear from you.
